
The Elite Schools League (ESL) has officially opened nominations for the 2025 Student Sports Personality Award, marking the maiden edition of what is expected to become one of the most prestigious recognitions for student-athletes in Ghana.
The award seeks to shine a spotlight on young athletes who have not only excelled in their respective disciplines but have also demonstrated discipline, resilience, and commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
According to the ESL Student Sports Personality Award Committee, nominations are open from 24th August 2025 and will close on 2nd September 2025. Schools, sports clubs, coaches, associations, and federations are encouraged to submit the names of exceptional student-athletes who meet the set criteria.

To be considered for the award, nominees must:
Be current students or recent graduates within the year of athletic eligibility.
Have won medals or shown outstanding performance at Regional Schools & Colleges competitions.
Have achieved medal success at National and/or International competitions, with international accolades carrying greater weight.
Speaking on the purpose of the award, the ESL Committee highlighted that the initiative is designed to celebrate student-athletes who continue to raise the flag of their schools and communities through sporting excellence.
The Elite Schools League has been instrumental in nurturing, and promoting young talent through inter-school competitions and community-based sporting programs. With this new award, the Elite Schools League aims to further strengthen its mission of promoting grassroots sports while motivating students to strive for excellence.
The first-ever ESL Student Sports Personality Award promises to highlight some of the brightest and most inspiring young athletes in the country, setting the stage for a tradition of celebrating sporting talent at the student level.
