UK-based Ghanaian musician, producer, and musical director Kwame Yeboah is set to deliver a series of masterclasses at Tufts University in Boston, marking a significant international academic engagement within his global performance and education work.
Widely respected for his role as a musical director and live band architect, Yeboah’s work sits at the intersection of traditional Ghanaian Highlife and contemporary global music performance, bridging rhythmic heritage with modern live production.
With over two decades of international touring experience, he has worked across the United Kingdom, Europe, North America, and West Africa, collaborating with globally recognised artists including Craig David and Yusuf / Cat Stevens, while contributing to the evolution of Highlife through his work
with Ghanaian icon Kojo Antwi.
Raised in Ghana and shaped through practical band culture, Yeboah developed a musicianship rooted in rhythm, ensemble leadership, and live performance. His approach positions Highlife not as a nostalgic genre, but as a living and evolving musical language, grounded in real-time musical communication and disciplined arrangement.
At Tufts University, the masterclasses will introduce students to the structural
language of Highlife—exploring rhythm construction, ensemble interaction, improvisation, and the role of live musicianship in shaping musical identity.
