TW Radio 88.9 FM has taken a major step in its sports development drive after sealing a strategic partnership with the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), further cementing the station’s rising influence within Ghana’s sports media space.

The partnership was unveiled at a brief ceremony where TW Radio presented financial support to the GOC in aid of preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, set to take place in Glasgow, Scotland. The collaboration signals a shared commitment to athlete development, institutional growth, and the promotion of Ghana on the international sporting stage.

Presenting the support on behalf of the station was TW Radio’s Commercial and Marketing Manager, George Kobina Edah, accompanied by Administrator Fidel Kuranchie Idun and Digital Lead Nana Yarquah. The gesture highlighted TW Radio’s deliberate shift from sports coverage alone to active participation in sports development.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Edah described sports as a powerful tool for empowerment and national progress, stressing that the partnership aligns with TW Radio’s vision to create impactful sports content while supporting organisations that shape the future of Ghanaian athletes.

The Ghana Olympic Committee delegation was led by its 3rd Vice President, Ernest Danso, who is also President of the Ghana Baseball and Softball Federation. He was joined by some key GOC board members including Rafatu Inusah, Board Member and President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union; Edward Patrick Nii Lante Bannerman, Assistant Treasurer and the President of Ghana Handball; Delphina Quaye, Board Member and President of the Ghana Swimming Association; and Charles Osei Asibey; Director of Communications and President of the Ghana Arm-Wrestling Federation.

Speaking on behalf of the GOC, Mrs. Delphina Quaye welcomed the partnership, describing it as timely and impactful as preparations toward the 2026 Commonwealth Games gather pace. She underscored the role of strong media partnerships in driving public engagement, boosting athlete morale, and rallying national support for Ghana’s international sporting ambitions.

The alliance further strengthens TW Radio’s growing sports profile and builds on the recent launch of TW Sport, the station’s dedicated sports brand designed to deliver focused and engaging sports content.

Earlier this year, TW Radio made history by becoming the first radio station in Ghana to sponsor a football club, following its support for Elmina Sharks Football Club. That move redefined the role of media in sports development, positioning broadcasters as active partners rather than observers.

With this latest partnership, TW Radio continues to assert itself as a forward-looking media institution committed to sports development, youth empowerment, and national pride, as Ghana’s journey toward Glasgow 2026 gains momentum.
