It was a calm Wednesday morning at Abomosu STEM Senior High School, with students quietly focused on their ongoing 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The usual silence punctuated only by the scratching of pens and the turning of pages was briefly interrupted when a small convoy drove into the school compound.

The visit marked a working engagement by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), aimed at encouraging students and engaging school management on issues affecting teaching and learning.

The PTA delegation, led by Chairman Daniel Oppong Adams and supported by his vice and other members, was warmly received by the headmaster, Peter Adu. From a distance, the team observed their wards and other candidates diligently writing their examinations.

“Exams can be stressful, but moments like this shape their future,” Oppong Adams remarked.

Following the examination, the PTA team engaged briefly with a group of students who had completed their papers. The students were encouraged to remain focused and to avoid examination malpractice.

“We are here today to encourage you. Believe in yourselves and remain focused. Success comes to those who prepare and persevere,” the chairman advised.

The visit later shifted to a formal meeting with school management in the headmaster’s office. Discussions centred on the progress of the school, challenges confronting both staff and students, and areas where the PTA could provide support.

Key issues raised included the need for additional science equipment, improvement of school facilities, and concerns related to both teacher and student welfare.

The PTA executives assured management of their commitment to supporting the growth and development of the school.

“We are partners in this journey. Together, we will create a better environment for our children,” a member of the delegation emphasised.

As the visit concluded, there was a renewed sense of purpose among both students and staff. While candidates returned to their preparations with increased motivation, the school’s management expressed confidence in the continued support of the PTA.

The eight-member delegation included Daniel Oppong Adams (Chairman), Stephen Austin Appau (Vice Chairman), Charles Tadi Banyu (Treasurer), Theophilus Akwei (Zonal Coordinator), Marjorie Ashietey (Member), Victoria Adjakie Adjatey (Member), Frederick Oduro (Member), and Ishmael Richardson (Member).

Abomosu STEM Senior High School is one of Ghana’s strategic educational institutions established to advance Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education through modern and innovative teaching methods.

The school was officially commissioned on October 22, 2022, by the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration as part of a broader national agenda to strengthen science and technology education and nurture the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.
