Ghana’s Ayewa Festival has cemented its reputation as one of the country’s most authentic food events, celebrating indigenous cuisine and cultural heritage in a vibrant display of tradition and taste.

Organized by Creative Republic, the festival took place on Farmers’ Day, December 5, in Accra, blending food, music, and performances in an atmosphere of excitement and cultural pride.

Patrons were treated to classic Ghanaian dishes such as fufu, banku, omo tuo, tuo zaafi, and jollof rice, all served in the traditional Ayewa bowl.

Opening the event, Eric Ohene Larbi, Regional Director of the Center for National Culture, underscored the importance of preserving Ghana’s culinary roots and promoting food culture as part of the government’s Black Star Experience tourism initiative.

“The Ayewa Festival plays a key role in projecting Ghanaian tradition and honoring our farmers,” Larbi said.

Mr Dennis Boateng, Creative Republic’s Director, announced plans to expand the festival into a bi-annual event, with the next edition scheduled for Easter 2026 in Kwahu.

“Expect three days of back-to-back celebration of Ghanaian cuisines on the mountains,” he said.

The 2025 festival was supported by Evivi Foods, Bel Aqua, and Minimie Astomo, which provided ingredients and refreshments for the event.
