The Ghana Police Service has apprehended Joseph Nii Amamu Offei, notoriously known as Gaza alias Hero, suspected to be the rmastermind of a sophisticated mobile phone snatching syndicate operating in Accra. Offei's arrest on April 4, 2026, around the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, culminates a meticulous intelligence-led operation.
According to police sources, Offei's brazen tactics involve ensnaring unsuspecting victims by feigning familiarity, only to dupe them into surrendering their mobile devices.
Under the pretext of entering a digit, he would swiftly abscond on his motorbike, leaving the victim stranded. A cache of five assorted mobile phones was recovered from him during his arrest.
Offei, with a checkered past, is set to face justice on Monday, having previously been incarcerated for a robbery involving substantial sums of money. His arraignment is eagerly anticipated.
