NPA donates GH¢1 million to support MahamaCares initiative

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has made a significant donation of GH¢1 million to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as MahamaCares, to support individuals living with chronic non-communicable diseases.

This gesture forms part of the Authority's corporate social responsibility efforts, aligning with President John Dramani Mahama's vision of providing financial assistance to those in need.

During a brief ceremony, NPA's Chief Executive Officer, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, announced the donation, stating,

"We have decided to also support. The Board has given approval for an amount of GHC1 million." He also appealed to the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund to expand its interventions in the northern part of the country, highlighting concerns about patients' access to dialysis services in the region.

Administrator Obuobia Darko-Opoku welcomed the donation, noting it will significantly enhance the Fund's capacity to deliver on its mandate. The MahamaCares programme aims to provide treatment for cancers, cardiovascular diseases, and other non-communicable diseases, with plans to roll out services to 30 facilities across the country from April.
