
The Ministry of Health has announced the disbursement of GH¢462 million to support the training allowances of 120,000 nursing students across the country.
The payment, which covers a six-month period, began today July 17, 2025,
and is expected to continue until next Friday.
According to the Ministry, the allowance forms part of the government’s broader initiative to provide financial relief to students in Nursing Training Colleges.
This move fulfills a key campaign promise made by President John Dramani Mahama during the recent electioneering period.
The Ministry of Health described the payment as a significant step towards improving the welfare of nursing trainees and motivating future healthcare professionals. “It also aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the health sector by ensuring that critical human resources are adequately supported during their training.”
In a statement, the Ministry expressed appreciation to President Mahama for delivering on his commitment, as well as to all stakeholders involved in facilitating the timely release and distribution of the funds.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to working closely with nursing institutions to ensure the continuous delivery of quality healthcare education nationwide.
“This development demonstrates the government’s resolve to invest in the future of healthcare by supporting trainees who will form the backbone of the nation’s health workforce,” the statement noted.
