The Agona Swedru District Police Command has arrested six individuals for allegedly impersonating national security officers and forcibly entering the premises of S.I Jun Manufacturing Company Limited at Agona Akwakwa, near Mankrong Nkwanta in the Central Region.

According to an official police statement issued on Thursday, May 7, the incident occurred at approximately 12:00 p.m. on May 6 following a distress call reporting that the suspects had arrived at the company in a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GW 8887-V.

The suspects were reportedly clad in varied attire to feign official authority — three in Ghana Immigration Service camouflage uniforms, one in military apparel, and two in civilian clothing.

They allegedly posed as National Security operatives and intimidated staff while assaulting Chinese nationals at the facility.

“According to the report, three of the suspects were dressed in Ghana Immigration Service camouflage uniforms, one in a military uniform, and the remaining two in mufti. The suspects claimed to be National Security Operatives and were allegedly assaulting and harassing some Chinese nationals at the company’s premises,” the statement read.

The six suspects identified as 32-year-old Agyemang Benjamin, 48-year-old Mahama Iddrisu Dawuda Seidu, 35-year-old Ofori Isaac, 32-year-old Adom Bills, 47-year-old Hayford Boafo, and 48-year-old Ato Mchenry were apprehended at the scene.

They are currently in custody at the Agona Swedru District Police Headquarters, where they are assisting with ongoing investigations.

Authorities have also reached out to the Military Police, the Ghana Immigration Service, and National Security to authenticate the identities and affiliations of the suspects.

The arrest underscores growing concerns over the proliferation of impostors masquerading as state security agents to perpetrate acts of intimidation and extortion across the country.
