In a momentous gesture of national unity and spiritual rejuvenation, President John Dramani Mahama will spearhead the country's inaugural National Day of Prayer today, July 1.

This groundbreaking initiative seeks to galvanize a diverse assemblage of esteemed religious leaders, prominent politicians, civil society organizations, and citizens from all walks of life in a collective pursuit of spiritual introspection, solidarity, and renewed hope amidst Ghana's current socio-economic complexities.

The event will feature a poignant interfaith convergence, with a Christian interdenominational service scheduled to commence at 8:00 a.m. at the majestic forecourt of the State House in Accra, followed by an Islamic prayer session at 12:00 noon at the revered National Mosque.

This occasion will be distinguished by the presence of two illustrious spiritual leaders: Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson, a globally acclaimed Catholic leader and peace advocate, and the National Chief Imam, Dr. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, Ghana's venerated Islamic spiritual leader.

Comrades, as the country converges in prayer, the themes of peace, economic revitalization, national cohesion, and moral rejuvenation will take center stage.

This inaugural celebration is set to become an annual fixture, providing a sacred platform for Ghanaians of all faiths to congregate in solidarity, seek divine guidance, and collectively implore the heavens for the country's progress and prosperity.

Indeed, with meticulous preparations in place, organizers are optimistic that this momentous occasion will instill a renewed sense of collective responsibility and spiritual direction, charting a course for growth and development for Ghana.
