A viral video featuring Kennedy Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, and Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, has surfaced online following a recent altercation between the two.
The video comes in the wake of the party’s ongoing nationwide "Thank You Tour" held on Monday, April 28, 2025.
In the video, Kennedy Agyapong is seen warmly embracing Abronye DC with a smile on his face, followed by a handshake. The two appeared to have put aside their differences, engaging in cheerful interaction as the NPP’s 2024 flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, addressed the crowd.
This friendly moment follows recent tensions between the two-party figures.
During an earlier event in Berekum, Bono Region, Abronye DC had addressed the gathered audience, raising critical issues he believed the party needed to confront.
His remarks included veiled accusations and calls for internal reforms, comments that were believed to have been aimed, in part, at Kennedy Agyapong.
He recounted claims that he had masterminded a politically motivated plot against a specific presidential candidate before the party's internal elections last year.
He also faced criticism for his alleged allegiance to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate.
Abronye refuted all accusations and expressed his thoughts on what, in his opinion, led to the party’s loss of power.
"Arrogance is what has brought us here," Abronye exclaimed.
He warned party leaders to desist from making statements that might give the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) an edge ahead of the 2028 elections.
He further cautioned against insults within the party while emphasizing the need for genuine unity.
Although Abronye did not direct his remarks to a specific individual, Kennedy Agyapong, who later took his turn to speak, seemingly responded to Abronye with gestures and statements indirectly aimed at him.
