The Weija Leprosarium has taken significant steps toward improving the lives of its residents, with new solar installations and ongoing construction of a modern sports complex.

Earlier today, a delegation from the Fr Campbell SVD Foundation paid a courtesy call on the Country Director of the World Bank, Robert Taliercio O’Brien, to update him on the Foundation’s activities.

The visit forms part of the Foundation’s efforts to strengthen partnerships and showcase the progress being made at the Leprosarium.

As part of recent developments, Tino Solutions, in celebration of its 20th anniversary, has installed solar panels on residents’ buildings at the Weija Leprosarium.

This initiative is expected to significantly reduce electricity costs and provide a reliable, sustainable energy source for the facility.

Rev Fr Andrew Campbell, SVD, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the company for its generosity, noting that the intervention will greatly improve living conditions for residents.

In addition, construction work is steadily advancing on a state-of-the-art Sports Complex at the Leprosarium.

The facility will feature a tennis court, swimming pool, astro-turf football pitch, and changing rooms.

According to the contractor, the project is scheduled for completion by Christmas this year, offering residents new recreational and sporting opportunities.

Rev Fr Campbell extended appreciation to all benefactors, friends and well-wishers of the Leprosarium for their unwavering support and prayers, emphasizing that such contributions continue to bring dignity and joy to the lives of persons affected by leprosy.
