The West African Examination Council (WAEC) released the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results on October 19, 2024.
After the release of the results, most students have been unable to access their full results as some see "pending" on certain subjects, especially Creative Arts and Design.
Why do I see a pending status?
According to WAEC, “Candidates with results pending do not have issues of examination malpractice. These candidates may have issues due to inaccurate candidate registration details, etc. Such results will definitely be released after all necessary information has been obtained.”
However, on the other hand, students who have been engaged in examination malpractice or have similar answers detected in their scripts will require thorough investigations before the results might be released.
What happens to my pending results?
WAEC may release the results after necessary checks of documents and all relevant information required to satisfy its investigation body for the release of such pending results.
What if WAEC doesn’t release the results?
Should your pending results fail to reflect on your transcript, there is a high probability of you being able to further your education if the said subject is not a core subject required for the calculation of aggregates.
Moreover, certain elective subjects are required depending on the course that you will read at SHS. So, if the said pending subject does not fall in that category, then you can further your education with the results.
How about calculating my aggregate with pending results?
Your aggregates can be calculated without the need for a pending grade if the said subject is not a core subject or it is not a key subject in the programme that you read in school.
