Exchequers goalkeeper Benjamin Acquah has described the 2025 Hockey League season as both “challenging and interesting” after playing a crucial role in his side’s title-winning campaign.
The 2024 SWAG Hockey Player of the Year was outstanding between the posts, making incredible saves throughout the season while conceding just 10 goals in total.
His most difficult outings came against Ghana Army and Arkmen, but his resilience helped Exchequers emerge as league champions.
“Well, this season has been a challenging and interesting one for me. This year, some of the teams proved tougher. But I think the toughest team was Ghana Army hockey team, I must confess. Not because of the win against me, but I think their game improved in the second round,” Acquah told the media after the season.
Despite being tested, Acquah remains proud of his defensive record: “I consider 10 goals in all the league matches played, which is not really bad. I’m looking forward to a better and developmental season this year.”
The goalkeeper, who was instrumental in Exchequers’ success, expressed gratitude to those who stood by him.
“I am grateful to God Almighty for this achievement, I also thank my colleagues, coaches and management for their support the teamwork from them made this happen, and I appreciate that. To my fans, I ask them to continue with the support, and it will get better next season.”
