The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has issued an official statement congratulating the President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC), Mr. Samson Deen, for his exceptional leadership during the recently concluded 2025 AfPC General Assembly, hosted in Accra from November 8–9, 2025.

The high-profile Assembly—attended by 41 National Paralympic Committees—was described as a historic milestone for the Paralympic Movement in Africa, marking the election of a new Executive Board and reaffirming Ghana’s rising stature in global sports governance.

In its statement, the Ministry applauded the Ghanaian-born AfPC President for “positioning Ghana as a symbol of inclusion, excellence, and transformational leadership in para-sports,” underscoring that his re-election represents a continental vote of confidence and a national achievement for Ghana.

During his remarks at the Assembly, Minister for Sports and Recreation Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams delivered powerful messages emphasizing Africa’s collective responsibility to build an inclusive sporting future:

“We owe it to the next generation to build a continent where no athlete is left behind.”

“The future of African sport is not complete if it is not inclusive.”

“Sports has the power to elevate identity, confidence, and hope — for every African, sighted or blind, walking or wheeling.”

He also commended Samson Deen for “transforming para-sports and redefining the future of sports across Africa,” reinforcing the Ministry’s full support for Ghana’s role as the Permanent Continental Headquarters of the AfPC.

The Ministry noted that the successful hosting of the Assembly once again showcased Ghana’s organisational excellence and commitment to advancing disability sports.

It further highlighted the country’s determination to deepen its collaboration with the AfPC, strengthen institutional partnerships, and champion inclusive sports policies across the continent.

The Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to supporting the AfPC’s mission and celebrated the 2025 Assembly as another significant step in Ghana’s leadership in sports and recreation.

“Ghana remains committed to working with all partners to ensure that para-sports continue to receive the recognition, investment, and respect they deserve across Africa,” the statement added.
