Vanguard Multimedia Ltd, an integrated multimedia company based in Tamale, has officially commenced operations, introducing a suite of modern platforms designed to serve audiences in Northern Ghana, across the country, and beyond.
Operating with sophisticated modern equipment, the company houses NorthCiti Radio 90.1 FM, Zosimli Radio 102.9 FM, and NorthCiti TV, complemented by its digital news portal, NorthCiti Online.
The launch is a significant milestone for the region's media sector, built on the core philosophy that quality journalism, compelling content, and commercially viable media can thrive outside traditional capital hubs to reach national and international audiences.
Vanguard Multimedia’s operations are tailored to cater to distinct audience segments through its specialized brands:
NorthCiti Radio 90.1 FM: Positioned as an urban, English-language station, it delivers news, analysis, entertainment, sports, and lifestyle content. Notable shows include Northciti Breakfast Avenue, NorthCiti Lounge, NorthCiti Today, and Sports Express.
Zosimli Radio 102.9 FM: Takes a community-oriented approach, focusing heavily on Northern Ghanaian culture, local issues, and everyday community experiences through programs like the morning show Dasiba Zosimli.
NorthCiti TV: Broadcasts via the MultiTV platform and digital channels from its main studio in Tamale, offering news, current affairs, lifestyle, and sports content.
NorthCiti Online: Provides digital news coverage spanning politics, business, health, culture, and sports to keep audiences engaged across web platforms.
Speaking on the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of Vanguard Multimedia Ltd, Samuel Ato Afful, emphasized that the company aims to prove that a modern media organization can achieve high standards while operating from Tamale.
“Our ambition is not simply to add another media organisation to the Northern Ghana landscape. We want to build a platform that creates value for audiences, businesses, institutions and communities while demonstrating what professional media can achieve from Tamale and Ghana,” Mr. Afful stated.
He added that the company views media as a catalyst for economic and social development, noting that Vanguard Multimedia will consistently invest in quality content, technology, professional journalism, and strategic partnerships.
Beyond broadcasting, the company is offering integrated communication packages designed to connect corporate entities, development partners, and government institutions with target audiences.
Commercial Director Isaac Twumasi-Quantus explained that the company’s multi-channel model allows clients to merge radio, television, and digital advertising seamlessly.
“The opportunity is to move beyond treating radio, television and digital as separate channels. We can bring them together to help businesses and institutions reach the right audiences with the right message and through the right platform,” Mr. Twumasi-Quantus noted.
To further develop the region's creative economy, Vanguard Multimedia has established the NorthCiti Media Training Center for aspiring media practitioners and the NorthCiti Music Recording Studio to support local audio production and talent.
With test transmissions already receiving positive feedback for sound and picture quality, the network has officially opened its doors for partnerships, corporate engagement, and community development initiatives across Ghana.
