Ghana Skate successfully concluded its Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on August 16, 2026, at the University of Ghana, Legon, following three days of intensive training and capacity building. The programme brought together approximately twenty-five participants from across Ghana’s coaching and officiating community, all eager to deepen their expertise in skating sports.

The training was facilitated by three resource persons from Benin, who led sessions in inline speed skating, inline freestyle skating, and judging. Drawing on their technical expertise and international experience, they provided participants with valuable insights into global best practices. Throughout the programme, participants engaged actively in both theoretical and practical sessions, leaving inspired and equipped to further develop their skills and share their knowledge within their respective skating communities.

The programme received strong support from Madam Philipina Frimpong, Volta Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), and Dr. Austin Luguterah, Director of Sports at the University of Ghana, Legon, both of whom lent their support to the initiative. Members of the Ghana Skate Executive Board were also present throughout the training. Ghana Skate further extends its sincere appreciation to Nestlé Ghana for its generous support in providing refreshments during the programme.

“This Training of Trainers programme marks another significant milestone in our journey to build a sustainable pipeline of world-class coaches and judges for skating in Ghana,” said Johnson Kwaku Gameli Kportufe, President of Ghana Skate. “We are deeply grateful to our partners in Benin, the National Sports Authority, the University of Ghana, and Nestlé Ghana for their unwavering support. Together, we are laying the foundation for the future of skating in Ghana and across the West African region.”

This Training of Trainers programme forms part of Ghana Skate’s ongoing efforts to establish a strong network of certified coaches and judges, thereby strengthening the foundation for competitive skating in Ghana and contributing to the growth of the sport across West Africa.
