Ghana’s national female netball team, the Golden Maidens, completed a dominant two-match international friendly series against Côte d’Ivoire with an emphatic 83–3 victory at the Accra Sports Stadium’s Osu-End Court on Friday.
The result followed Ghana’s 73–6 win in the opening encounter on Thursday, giving the hosts a comprehensive 2–0 series victory and an aggregate score of 156–9 across the two matches.
Ghana again imposed its authority from the opening centre pass, combining quick ball movement, effective court positioning and disciplined transitions to keep Côte d’Ivoire under sustained pressure.
The Golden Maidens’ attacking unit operated with considerable efficiency, with Ghana consistently moving the ball into the shooting circle and converting opportunities. Their ability to transition quickly from defence to attack also prevented Côte d’Ivoire from establishing sustained possession or building attacking momentum.
At the other end of the court, Ghana’s defensive unit continued to create problems for the visitors, disrupting passing lanes and forcing turnovers. Côte d’Ivoire managed just three goals throughout the match as Ghana maintained its defensive intensity across all four quarters.
The hosts continued to extend their advantage as the game progressed, with the second-half performance reflecting the same level of control displayed earlier in the contest. Ghana’s movement through the midcourt remained effective, while the attacking players continued to capitalize on the opportunities created by their defensive and transition play.
The final whistle confirmed an 83–3 victory, Ghana’s second consecutive win over Côte d’Ivoire and the largest margin recorded across the two-match series.
The clean sweep provides the Golden Maidens with valuable international match exposure as they continue preparations for future continental engagements. The two fixtures also offered the technical team an opportunity to assess combinations, tactical approaches and match readiness against international opposition.
The series further contributes to the development of women’s netball in the West African region by providing competitive opportunities for national teams while increasing the visibility of the sport among young athletes.
With the two-match series now concluded, Ghana will turn its attention to its upcoming international commitments, carrying the confidence of two convincing victories and an aggregate 156–9 scoreline from the encounter with Côte d’Ivoire.
