According to Prof. Smart Sarpong's most recent research, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will win the first round of the presidential election on December 7 and there would be a runoff. According to the study, "Evidence from Science and Data," the Vice President received 49.1 percent of the total expected performance (Scenario 1), while his nearest competitor, former President John Dramani Mahama, received 45.8 percent.

New Force leader and presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Freedom Jacob Ceasar, received 2.2 percent of the vote, surpassing veteran politician Alan Kyerematen's 1.2 percent. The study employed a sample size of 99,355 from 4,272 towns nationwide, out of a total population of 18,807,954. Regarding the anticipated outcomes of the legislative election, Prof. Sarpong predicted that the NDC would win 92 seats, with a probable number of 15, while the NPP would win 128 seats, with a probable number of 41.

Additionally, he has projected that 81.4 percent of voters will cast ballots in the general elections. He revealed this during a news conference at the Erata Hotel on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Four weeks before the elections, on November 16, 2024, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP had a 49.1% lead. Next in line with 45.8% are NDCs Mr. John Dramani Mahama, Nana Kwame Bediako, and Mr. John Alan Kyerematen. Together, the other candidates received 1.7% of the vote.

He also said that only one of the two major political parties may win the 2024 elections in the first round, with the NPP having a better chance of doing so. According to him, the regions of Bono East, Greater Accra, Northern, Oti, Savanna, Upper East, Upper West, Volta, and Western North are driving the figures for candidate Mahama and the NDC, while the regions of Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, Central, Eastern, North East, and Western are driving the figures for candidate Bawumia.
