At a durbar for Eswatini King Mswati III, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II presented him with two unique presents.

Additionally, the chief in charge of the Asante's palm wine tapped Otumfuo's palm wine just for the Ngwenyama to sample.

Online attention has been drawn to King Mswati III's dramatic response after tasting the palm wine.

On June 26, 2025, King Mswati III attended a durbar where he first drank Otumfuo's specially tapped palm wine, according to yen.com.gh.

He is shown sampling the Asantes' highly valued drink in a video that has gone viral online.

When the Asantes offered the drink, the Ngwenyama, who had been on a familiarization tour of the Asante Kingdom, was seated with his spouse.

The host must sip the drink before his guests, as is customary. The chief of Otumfuo poured a clabash for himself, took a sip, and then shared the wine with his fellow men.

The purpose of the act is to establish confidence and demonstrate the drink's safety for ingestion.

The Asante culture has a unique taste for palm wine. The wine is even overseen by a specific head for the Otumfuo.

Among the gifts were a "Unity Staff" and what were referred to as the "Tontonsansan" gift.

A handcrafted communication tool adorned with cowries, which stand for sustainability and wealth, was the first gift to be unveiled.

It acknowledges the Asante and Eswatini people's engagement and participation, acting as a conduit for communication between the two Kingdoms and their constituents.

A hawk and a lion are depicted in the center medallion of the unification staff. The lion symbolizes the Ngwenyama of Eswatini, which stands for bravery, majesty, and strength, while the hawk represents the Oyoko clan and the Asantehene, signifying alertness, nobility, and clarity of vision.
