An Independent Effutu Constituency Parliamentary Candidate Was Arrested on Charges of Forgery

The Winneba Divisional Police Command has detained Louisa Buabeng, an independent parliamentary candidate for the Central Region's Effutu Constituency, according to the most recent report from TV3. She was arrested following her attendance in the Winneba High Court. Louisa Buabeng requested an injunction in court to halt the parliamentary elections scheduled for December 7. She claimed that her candidacy documents had been leaked to the public by the Electoral Commission (EC). A tense atmosphere was created as police officers surrounded the court grounds following the hearing.

After observing the scenario, the judge, Her Ladyship Justice Marriam Agyeman Gyasi Jawhary, chastised the police for their conduct. She commanded them to halt the arrest procedure, claiming that such conduct damages the reputation of law enforcement. The candidate's lawyer will take her to the station later, the judge told the police. But as soon as the court session ended, the police squad continued to follow her car to the police command.

Jennifred Maurice Adjei, Louisa Buabeng's attorney, reportedly disclosed that a petition had been filed with the police. The contender allegedly falsified a nominee's signature on her paperwork. Given that she had already been vetted and put on the ballot, the attorney contended that this was not a good enough cause to hold her. Louisa Buabeng, who is now dealing with legal issues, Dr. James Kofi Annan, the NDC candidate, and Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the incumbent NPP MP, are all running for the Effutu Constituency.

The circumstances have sparked questions about the election's impartiality and the handling of accusations made against candidates. Alexander Afenyo Markin, the MP for the Effutu seat, posted about what transpired at the court before to her detention.
