Atebubu Suspected notorious armed robber shot dead by cops

The police have identified him as Mahamadu Gariba Kirror, who, according to the authorities, was the leader of the robbery gang of six, that attacked and killed a mini bus driver and looted passengers of their possessions in Jamuary 2025 in the Atebubu district.

Gariba was apprehended by the police on Saturday, [January 31, 2026] around 10:30am based on intelligence.

After an initial interrogation, he promised to lead the police to arrest his fellow gang members.

However, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 7:45 p.m., the suspect, who was leading a police squad to apprehend his other accomplices, attempted to escape and was shot by the police, according to a police situational report (SITREP) that Graphic Online was able to view.
