Muslims from around the world perform Hajj every year in Mecca, Saudi Arabia

The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana) has confirmed the death of another Ghanaian pilgrim, Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu, aged 60, at the ongoing 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

According to PAOG, the pilgrim passed away at the blessed plains of Arafat on Tuesday, May 26.

He has since been buried in accordance with Islamic tradition after his family was duly informed.

In Islamic practice, a pilgrim who dies at Arafat is regarded as having completed one of the most spiritually significant stages of the Hajj. Under Saudi regulations, the body is respectfully prepared and buried in the Holy Land, with the death officially documented.

Dying while in a state of Ihram on the Day of Arafat is considered a highly honourable passing in Islam.
