Ernest Kumi is not allowed to take the oath of office as the elected member of parliament for the Akwatia seat due to an interim injunction imposed by the Koforidua High Court. The injunction comes after attorneys for National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate Henry Boakye-Yiadom sued the Clerk to Parliament and Ernest Kumi, the Electoral Commission (EC). The lawsuit aims to prevent Mr. Kumi from being sworn in until the case is settled. At the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra, the EC re-collected and declared the contested seats, including the Akwatia constituency.
