On social media, some Ghanaians are urging Andre Dede Ayew to rejoin the senior national team.

Following the dismal 2-0 loss to Sudan on matchday four of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifications, the Black Stars have now faced this. The belief among many is that the team's poor performance was not caused by the former captain.

The player from Le Havre was earlier identified as one of the players impeding the progress of the senior men's national team. The captain of Ghana wants to rejoin the Black Stars, nevertheless, after four embarrassing losses.

One person wrote on his X page, "Dede Ayew was never the problem, bring him back." A picture of Dede Ayew was also uploaded by another user, who said, "Dede Ayew going back to his Malam to thank him."

Others who responded to the post concurred, saying that Dede Ayew should rejoin the squad because he was never the club's problem. "The convenient victim. In the end, he wasn't the issue.” and still another person questioned, "Why do we constantly portray Dede as the villain in every circumstance? We simply don't measure up.

Otto Addo's decision to leave him off the team was questioned by someone who said, "Why will you retire a player by forcing u too u no Dey force as a coach?"

"Dede Ayew after realizing Ghanaians can no longer blame him for the performance of #BlackStars," read the description on a video of Ghanaian icon Asamoah Gyan singing the gospel song "W'agye Me" by Obaapa Christy. It's unclear at this time whether Dede Ayew will be added to the squad for the upcoming international break in November.
