After the statue of former President Nana Akufo-Addo at the Effia Nkwanta roundabout in Sekondi-Takoradi was demolished, a Ghanaian citizen expressed his profound regret and annoyance. On January 12, 2025, the life-size bronze monument was demolished after being inaugurated in November 2024. This was the second time it had been vandalized; the previous time, on December 16, only the left leg of the monument was destroyed, but it was later fixed. The man is shown cradling fragments of the demolished statue in a widely shared TikTok video, regretting the choice to demolish it. He maintained that the statue should be kept in place since it is an important reminder of Akufo-Addo's contributions to Takoradi's growth.
