Reports of an alleged violent attack at Kosoa Danchira involving armed land guards have shocked the farming community and rekindled national concerns about violence tied to land. According to reports, Mustapha Attakpa, the CEO of Halal Farms, was the target of the incident because of a disputed piece of land that he maintains he legally purchased.

Preliminary reports state that Mr. Attakpa was present when armed men who were thought to be land guards rushed the contested location. The attackers, according to witnesses, were armed and behaved in a way that suggested a concerted effort to scare and drive him off the property.

Speaking following the incident, Mr. Attakpa insisted that he had all the required paperwork to verify ownership and that he had acquired the land in accordance with due process.
