On Monday, May 25, 2026, a rainstorm hit Tatale in the Northern Region, killing over 20 cattle owned by Fulani herdsman Sarkin Amaru. According to Channel One TV in Accra, the incident happened during an evening downpour that was followed by strong thunder and lightning. Mr. Amaru claims that just before the animals began to collapse, he was inside his hut when the storm intensified and a tremendous thunderclap was heard. He claimed that when he first hurried outdoors after seeing one of the animals had fallen, he discovered that numerous more were also perishing. He reportedly lost his primary source of income and was saddened when over 20 animals died in a matter of minutes.
