The Association of Liberal Muslims and the Coalition of Concerned Muslims of Ghana have given Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), three days to take back his claims and express regret for saying that Imams and Mallams were hired to teach Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) to elementary school pupils.

During a campaign rally in Kumasi-Bantama, Opoku Prempeh charged that the NDC, and specifically Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa, had incorporated CSE into the curriculum. "The NDC had created a curriculum that involved teaching children inappropriate content," he said openly, adding that they brought pastors and imams to areas to train teachers on how to talk about same-sex relationships...

The Muslim organizations called for Opoku Prempeh to either identify the alleged contracted Mallams and Imams or issue an apology and take back his remarks within three days, according to a news conference. "The issue Napo is talking about, talking about it, and practicing it does not align with Islamic worship and teachings," emphasized a spokesperson for the groups, adding, "We are here today in the name of all Muslims and begging Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh that he should name the mallams and Imams that were given the contract to the public. If their names are not there, he should retract his statement and also apologise to the Muslim communities within the country."

The organizations threatened to take additional action if their requests were not fulfilled, saying, "We are giving him a three-day ultimatum to retract and apologize otherwise we will use a different way." Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was also urged to step in and make sure his running partner acts morally.
