In accordance with Section 2(4) of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775), the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations has instructed the Acting Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA) to take prompt enforcement action against a number of entities for operating without legitimate frequency authorizations. The following organizations are impacted by this directive: 1. Sunyani Fire Group of Companies, 90.1MHz 2. Tamale's I-Zar Consult Limited, 89.7MHz 3. 105.7MHz Abochannel Media Group, Adidome 4. 99.7MHz Okyeame Radio Limited, Bibiani 5. 99.7MHz Mumen Bono Foundation, Techiman 6. 99.7MHz Osikani Community FM, Nkrankwanta In a statement released on Tuesday, February 18, the Communications Ministry pointed out that these organizations have not renewed their authorizations, paid their statutory duties, or turned in the necessary paperwork by the deadline.

Their authorizations have thus expired by operation of law, making their ongoing activities unlawful. Operating a broadcasting service without a valid frequency authorization is illegal under Act 775. The NCA will take the required actions to guarantee legal compliance and stop any unlawful communications. In due time, the Ministry will issue additional directives as it continues to assess the frequency authorization audit. To prevent similar enforcement proceedings, all frequency authorization holders are reminded to adhere carefully to the terms of their authorizations.
