Following notification from his legal team that he would be returning to Ghana in May 2025, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta was formally taken from the Office of the Special Prosecutor's (OSP) wanted persons list.Ghanaian-inspired merchandise Following a period of ambiguity over Ofori-Atta's whereabouts, the OSP declared him wanted as part of its investigation into offenses related to corruption. The investigation into the former minister's alleged financial misdeeds during his tenure in office was complicated by the lack of clarity about his precise location. However, the OSP affirmed that the former minister would return to Ghana on a designated date in May after receiving correspondence from Ofori-Atta's attorneys on February 18, 2025. The OSP was reassured by his attorneys

Following the OSP's original declaration of Ofori-Atta as a fugitive from justice on February 12, 2025, this development represents a substantial change. In the past, the OSP had instructed the former finance minister to show up for a planned interview over the corruption-related inquiries in Accra. When Ofori-Atta's legal team announced his intention to voluntarily return to Ghana, the situation took a significant turn for the better. In response, the OSP agreed to postpone the interview since it thought the specified return date was appropriate. As a result—pending his voluntary return—Ofori-Atta is no longer listed as a fugitive from justice and has been taken off the OSP's wanted list. Additionally, the OSP stated that Ofori-Atta will be placed back on the wanted list and deemed a criminal if he does not return to Ghana or show up for the rescheduled interview.
