Bishop Agyin-Asare, the founder of Perez Chapel International, has been attacked by P.K. Sarpong, a well-known writer for the ruling NPP government.
The following was posted on P.K. Sarpong's official Facebook page on December 3, 2024: "To say that we are disappointed in you, Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare, would be the greatest understatement of the century. We were expecting more from someone who has spent years serving in God's ministry than to advocate on your platform that Christians shouldn't elect a Muslim to govern Ghana.
Your appeal for your fellow pastors and churchgoers to oppose a Muslim candidate for president of the Republic of Ghana is not a godly one, sir. This is extreme bigotry, and a decent guy would never take part in such polarizing politics. You have the right to be a member of the NDC as you are one, sir. We wouldn't have had any problems with you if you had urged your fellow pastors to back your party for reasons other than religious convictions.
The lowest point a man of God of your stature could reach is to request that your colleagues reject Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia due to his Muslim faith. Without holding back, P.K. Sarpong declared that Agyin-Asare had compromised his own belief in God's word. "God is not divisive," he added.
Do you not think that diversity can be united? For being a Muslim, what is Bawumia's crime? Has he not been practicing Islam while serving as vice president for the last eight years? Has his Islamic faith caused him any harm? Nope! What makes you prejudice against him, then? With these inquiries, PK Sarpong barraged Bishop Agyin-Asare. "They have been worshiping the Bishop for years because of his work for God, not realizing that he is that carnal," he added.
"In essence, you are telling the thousands or millions of Muslims who vote for and support your party that they are not humanity enough. If Muslims want to make lucrative agreements, they should vote for their Mahama to become president, but you oppose one of their own people becoming president of Ghana? Where did you get this information in your Bible, Osofo? My disappointment is immense, Bishop Charles Agyin-Asare. P.K. Sarpong contributed in a brazen manner.
