Following the horrific military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, which killed a number of high-ranking government and military leaders, Ghana is in sorrow. Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, a devoted crew member of the tragic aircraft who had just celebrated his wedding, was one of the victims. Eight people were killed in the collision, which happened close to Adansi Sikaman. Among them were Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Defense Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah. As condolences from all facets of society stream in, the catastrophe has left the country in deep sorrow. Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah was married only a month ago, as confirmed.

Heartbreaking pictures of the young soldier standing happily with his bride in his Ghana Armed Forces uniform on peacekeeping missions and in his wedding outfit have now taken over social media. Ghanaians are devastated as they consider the hopes and future that were lost in the collision as images of the couple's emotional and colorful ceremony have reappeared online. Sergeant Mensah worked diligently at one of Ghana's army facilities, where he operated helicopters and other aircraft, and was actively involved in peacekeeping missions before to his tragic death. Every task he completed demonstrated his commitment to duty and patriotism, which won him the admiration of his superiors and peers.
