Shortly after being released, Abu Trica was detained again.

This comes after Abu Trica's attorney, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, disclosed earlier on Monday, January 26, 2026, that NACOC personnel had tried to re-arrest his client inside the courtroom, a move that apparently infuriated the presiding judge.

After the state formally dropped the accusations against them, the accused were released.

A member of the defense team confirmed the re-arrest to the media, stating that Abu Trica and his co-accused were brought to NACOC's headquarters.

They have been returned to the Narcotics Headquarters.I'm not sure why they're there, but I think it's administrative," he remarked.

Abu Trica was first taken into custody on Thursday, December 11, 2025, after US officials indicted him for allegedly participating in a massive online romance scam that is thought to have scammed victims of over $8 million.
