Following the start of voting at all polling places nationwide, approximately 12 burly men who are thought to be National Democratic Congress (NDC) operatives were involved in an accident in Kumasi on Saturday. Around 10:45 a.m., the accident happened in Fante New Town, a Kumasi suburb in the Ashanti Region's Subin Constituency. They were traveling in a Toyota Tundra pickup, registered GT 3191-17, which was presumably utilized for Kumasi campaign-related operations. The alleged NDC vehicle collided with a Lexus SUV bearing the registration number AS 7263-21 at a crossroads near Kumasi Technical University.
Although none of the victims were wounded, the cars were severely damaged, rendering them immobile. Kofi Karikari, the driver of the Lexus SUV, told Daily Guide Network that he was headed to Krofrom to vote at the time of the collision. The damaged vehicles would be hauled to the Zongo Police station, according to a Ghana Police Service official from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), who was on the site. The police officer who requested anonymity went on to say that before an official investigation could start, the victims would be asked to provide public testimonies.
