Prominent attorney Tsatsu Tsikata has voiced his thoughts on the best candidate to take over as president when President Nana Akufo Addo's tenure ends in January of next year. Thirteen contenders are competing to succeed the outgoing president in the next presidential elections, which take place in January of next year.
The renowned lawyer made it clear that he would support former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), ahead of the December 7 elections.
He claims that the events of the last eight years under the current administration are the reason he is voting for Mr. Mahama. He emphasized that Ghana's experience during the Akufo Addo-led government was far worse than that of the John Dramani Mahama administration, which lasted from 2013 to 2017. The well-known attorney attacked the present administration for what he claims is economic mismanagement in a post that Accra-based GHone TV posted on its verified Facebook page.
In the next presidential elections, he is pushing Ghanaians to cast a large number of votes for the former president, who he believes could have performed better if he had been kept in office. It is difficult to defend choosing a vice president who is heavily involved in the current status of the economy, he said, urging Ghanaians to reject Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and vice president. Bawumia, in his opinion, is a member of the current administration, which has fallen short of his standards.
