Who Is Going to Attend Your Funeral? Nitiwul Issues Another Terrifying Warning to Dampare

The concerns made by former Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul back in February 2025 have gained new attention as a result of George Akuffo Dampare's recent removal from his post as Inspector General of Police.

Scenes of joy broke out at what looks to be the Police Headquarters in Accra after Dampare was removed, with policemen clearly rejoicing—yelling, jumping, and embracing one another. This sudden outburst of celebration has brought attention to how prophetic Nitiwul's earlier admonition was.

In a February interview with Asaasepa FM, Nitiwul had specifically threatened to isolate Dampare upon retirement if he didn't change his strategy. "He needs to change his approach, or else, after retirement, he may find himself alone," Nitiwul said.

There is broad, cross-party discontent with Dampare's leadership style, according to the former defense minister. "He is doing his hardest, but it seems like a lot of people, particularly in the NPP, are unhappy with him. Many people are not happy, even within the NDC," Nitiwul disclosed.

The then-IGP had been counseled by Nitiwul to put loyalty and audacity ahead of popular acceptance. "If you want to be effective in your work, you must avoid pleasing the public at all costs, as that could end up damaging the police service," he said.

When he questioned Dampare's future social position, the former minister issued the most stinging warning: "How would maFcny people actually turn up if you retire and organize an event, a burial, or any gathering? If we see that you have collaborated with both the NPP and the NDC and invited them, but nobody shows up, you should seriously question yourself. as$see xxxdd
