The Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of Corporate Affairs, Dr. Bossman Asare, has vehemently denied recent demands for the dismissal of EC staff, claiming that the accusations are baseless. According to MyNewsGH on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, Dr. Asare highlighted the openness and effectiveness of the Commission's work in an interview with JoyNews, underscoring the respect that Ghana's electoral system enjoys throughout Africa. "The results are publicly available, and in terms of quality, Ghana is among the best in Africa when it comes to elections," he stated. Dr. Asare noted that the EC's operations have received appreciation from both domestic and foreign observers since the Commission's leadership change in 2018.

Dr. Asare refuted accusations of ineptitude made against the EC, specifically against Jean Mensa, its chairperson, stating that they stem from a misperception of the Commission's accomplishments. "If anyone is calling for the removal of someone at the EC, it means they don’t fully understand the work that has been done," he said. He emphasized that the EC has advanced the nation's election processes and been open, economical, and helpful.

These remarks coincide with growing criticism, especially from businessman Novihoho Afaglo and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Jean Mensa was recently accused by Afaglo of poor election management in 2024, specifically citing the delays in announcing the results. Nonetheless, Dr. Asare maintains that the Commission's work speaks for itself and is still confident in the EC's capacity to conduct the elections in a fair and efficient manner.
