Amenfi Central MP Pushes for Action on Persistent Electricity Challenges

The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has intensified efforts to address persistent electricity challenges affecting several communities within the constituency.

Madam Gyan Cudjoe held discussions with serving and former Assembly Members, constituency officials and community leaders to identify and document major concerns relating to electricity supply.

Among the issues raised were inadequate and faulty transformers, damaged electricity meters, challenges involving the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), unstable power supply and the need to extend electricity to communities that remain underserved.

The MP praised Hon. Gyenfi Emmanuel, the NPP Assembly Member for Kwaku Boah, for his continued efforts to draw attention to the electricity challenges confronting his constituents.

According to her, Hon. Gyenfi had raised the matter several months ago and continued to follow up on it, including visits made two months ago and last month, before joining the latest engagement with his team.

Madam Gyan Cudjoe described the collaboration as evidence that development should transcend partisan politics.

She stressed that essential services such as electricity, roads, education and healthcare are basic needs that should benefit residents regardless of their political affiliation.

The engagement was attended by Hon. Gyenfi Emmanuel, Hon. Mathias Coffie, Hon. Richard Angsokpieg, Hon. Enock Kwaw Sekyim, Hon. Adowah Stephen and Hon. Kwame Ashie, as well as former Assembly Members and constituency leaders Hon. Anita Lafone and Hon. Daniel Appiah, popularly known as Chairman Daniel.

The MP disclosed that her office, in collaboration with the District Chief Executive, Hon. Peter Amposah, the NDC constituency and branch structures, Assembly Members, community leaders and relevant energy and ECG authorities, has been pursuing solutions to the electricity challenges for about three months.

She said engagements with the relevant authorities have intensified, following assurances from the President and the Minister for Energy.

Madam Gyan Cudjoe expressed hope that concrete interventions, particularly concerning transformers and electricity supply, would begin to materialise before the end of August.

She assured residents that the consultations and follow-ups would continue until tangible results are achieved.

The MP also reaffirmed her commitment to serving all residents of Amenfi Central, regardless of whether they belong to the NDC, NPP, another political party or have no political affiliation.

She urged communities facing challenges with electricity, roads, schools, healthcare or other basic infrastructure to bring their concerns to her office, her team or their Assembly Members for attention and follow-up.

Madam Gyan Cudjoe called on political actors and community stakeholders to prioritise development and work together to improve living conditions across Amenfi Central.
