In an interview with mightynews360.blogspot.com, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe revealed that the development of her constituency has been her top priority since she began her political career.

“The entirety of my parliamentary salary will be dedicated to three areas: agriculture, education, and health,” she stated.

She further explained, “I have informed my national, regional, and constituency executives that my salary from Parliament will go into an educational fund. Even if it’s just one cedi, it can make a difference in someone’s life.”

The first-time Member of Parliament (MP) emphasized that her decision is motivated by a desire to improve the lives of her constituents.

“I cannot live in comfort when so many children in my constituency are struggling to pay school fees. These are needy children who cannot even afford books or feeding fees. The Educational Support Fund will cater to such needs,” she explained.

Hon. Gyan Cudjoe also highlighted the need to address healthcare challenges, especially maternal health and issues affecting the aged.

“I cannot enjoy the comfort of Parliament when basic healthcare facilities in my constituency are inadequate. It is my duty to give back to the vulnerable people who placed their trust in me. For the next eight years, with the help of the Joana Gyan Foundation, my entire salary will address these issues,” she added.

Through her foundation, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe currently supports over 1,200 students annually by providing scholarships and covering school fees.

Hon. Gyan Cudjoe, who won the Amenfi Central parliamentary seat in the 2024 general elections, is one of the new MPs elected into Parliament.

She also underscored the importance of good roads as a catalyst for development.

“Good roads are a gateway to development. When roads are improved, investors will be encouraged to farm, establish cocoa projects, and build schools. NGOs and embassies will also be more willing to collaborate on community projects,” she noted.

Before her entry into politics, Hon. Gyan Cudjoe financed road projects in her constituency despite resistance from local authorities.

“At the time, I wasn’t an MP. I was just a private citizen trying to help, but it became a big fight with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE). That was when my people started encouraging me to run for office because they saw I could lobby for their needs,” she recounted.

Outside of politics, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe is a trailblazer in Ghana’s gold industry. She is the largest licensed gold exporter and the only woman with such a license, having exported over $400 million worth of gold since 2019.

Hon.Joana Gyan is a dedicated Member of Parliament, she is committed to serving her constituents and ensuring their well-being. To demonstrate her devotion to their needs, she is donating all her salary to support community development projects and initiatives that benefit her constituents directly.

This reflects a selfless act by the MP, prioritizing the needs of her constituents over personal gain. It also highlights her commitment to community development and the well-being of those she serves
