The MP-Elect for Amenfi Central Constituency in the Western Region, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has called on Ghanaians, particularly her constituents, to celebrate this year’s Christmas with moderation.
Hon. Gyan Cudjoe expressed gratitude to God for the peaceful and successful parliamentary and presidential elections, which resulted in a decisive victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and President-Elect John Dramani Mahama. She encouraged Ghanaians to adopt a spirit of gratitude and composure, reflecting on their blessings while preparing for a brighter future under the NDC's leadership.
She emphasized that the forthcoming governance of President Mahama will usher in policies that prioritize good governance and alleviate the suffering caused by the current administration. “This is the time to be measured in our celebrations, so we can all live to witness and enjoy the fruits of effective leadership and policies in 2025,” she noted.
The MP-Elect also criticized the secularization of Christmas, highlighting the need for Ghanaians to focus on the spiritual significance of the holiday. She urged individuals and families to use the festive season to reflect on their lives, express gratitude, and realign their actions with the values of Christ’s birth.
“Christmas is not just about indulgence in alcohol, promiscuity, and other secular activities. It is a sacred time to count our blessings and thank God for His favor and grace,” Hon. Gyan Cudjoe stated. She further encouraged Ghanaians to use the season for self-assessment and spiritual renewal.
According to her, the second coming of President Mahama will bring transformational policies that will compel the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into prolonged opposition. She urged all citizens to celebrate responsibly and align themselves with the brighter future that the NDC government promises.
Hon. Gyan Cudjoe’s remarks come as Ghanaians prepare to usher in 2025 with optimism, marking the season not only with festivities but also with a sense of purpose and reflection.
Christmas, celebrated annually on December 25, marks the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Rooted in Christian traditions, the holiday has also become a global celebration, characterized by acts of charity, gift exchanges, and moments of reflection.
The MP-Elect encouraged all to embrace the true essence of Christmas, focusing on purity, gratitude, and hope for the future, as encapsulated in the birth of Christ.
