The Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) in the Bono Region has expressed determination to recover debts from defaulters and sustain its credit policy.

Hon. Salamatu Adams, Bono Regional Credit Manager at MASLOC, acknowledged the organization's struggles with loan defaults, which have threatened its sustainability.

However, she said that with the appointment of Regional Director Irene Akenteng, industry stakeholders, is optimistic about a new chapter in MASLOC's operations.

Salamatu Adams emphasized that the regional directorate's vision is to implement stricter recovery measures while supporting micro and small businesses, particularly women farmers.

Salamatu Adams spoke to Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani-based Ark fm during a digital and financial literacy training organised by Telecel Ghana Foundation for women in agribusiness on Wednesday in Sunyani.

Hon. Salamatu Adams pledged the Regional Secretariat's commitment to disbursing loans to small and medium enterprises, including women in agribusiness.

She noted that following their appointment earlier this year, MASLOC aims to commence full operations and disburse loans to eligible beneficiaries.

She told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari that the focus on SMEs and women in agribusiness aligns with MASLOC's establishment purpose.

Adams stressed the importance of prioritizing these groups to ensure the organization's objectives are met.

With renewed determination and leadership, the MASLOC Bono Region hopes to break the cycle of loan defaults and support the growth of small businesses in the region.
