The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Pru East municipality organized a quiz on Ghana's constitution as part of this year's Independence Day celebrations.
This activity, planned at the national level, aims to instil civic virtues among basic school students across the country.
The Constitution has created room for civic education to be used as a strategy and tool for creating awareness of democratic governance values, instilling patriotism, and enhancing citizens' participation in governance.
In line with this, the directorate organized a quiz among basic school students nationwide to make the Independence Day celebrations more memorable and engaging.
The quiz is part of the Commission's efforts to help students better understand the 1992 Constitution while having fun.
The competition was held under the 2025 working theme: "Ghana's Future: Our Collective Responsibility."
The main objective is to use quizzes as a way to promote learning of the Constitution's contents in an entertaining manner among basic school students.
Specifically, the goals include organizing quizzes on the 1992 4th Republican Constitution to commemorate Independence Day, encouraging the use of NCCE's Ghana Constitution Game Board and encouraging students to join Civic Education Clubs in their schools.
In line with this vision, the Pru East municipal directorate of NCCE held its program at the SDA church premises on March 5, 2025, with four selected basic schools in the district: Methodist JHS, R/C JHS, Girls Model JHS, and D/A JHS, all in Yeji.
The Constitution Game Board was used, and each participating school presented three contestants.
Methodist JHS emerged as the winner, followed by R/C JHS, D/A JHS, and Girls Model JHS.
Mr. Emmanuel Nimoh, the municipal director, emphasized that the interactive approach used seeks to build a culture of constitutional awareness among the youth.
He urged the youth to make it a point to have access to the Constitution at all times.
The participating schools expressed gratitude to the NCCE for the program and the education director of Pru East, Mr. Sylvester Tabiasi-Naa urged the NCCE to run the program annually to contribute significantly to Ghanaian students.
