In a display of grassroots democracy devoid of party colors, the Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, held an open and interactive town hall meeting with the youth and residents of Wassa Agona Amenfi on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The gathering brought together traditional rulers (Nananom), constituency executives from various political divides, elders, farmers, traders, professionals, and a large turnout of local youth. The event was designed to provide an open platform where constituents could voice concerns, ask direct questions, and contribute ideas regardless of their political affiliations.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Gyan Cudjoe emphasized that community challenges—such as poor road networks, inadequate healthcare, unreliable electricity, and youth unemployment—affect everyone uniformly, transcending partisan lines.
"A bad road does not ask whether you are NDC or NPP. A sick child has no political party," the MP stated. "Our common opponents must be bad roads, unemployment, poor connectivity, and lack of opportunities—not one another."
Addressing Systemic Challenges and Early Progress A central theme of the engagement was confronting the historical underdevelopment of the constituency. Hon. Gyan Cudjoe noted that many of the region's challenges had persisted for decades, long before she assumed office approximately a year ago.
While acknowledging that one year is insufficient to completely overhaul the district's infrastructure, she maintained that the initial period has laid the groundwork for change. According to the MP, her administration has facilitated employment and training opportunities for over 300 graduates and non-graduates, supported educational initiatives, assisted students and farmers, and intervened in community health and electrification projects.

A 13–20 Year Development Roadmap To tackle systemic issues sustainably, Hon. Gyan Cudjoe proposed a comprehensive 13–20 year development roadmap for Amenfi Central. She clarified that the timeframe represents a period of continuous, strategic building rather than a waiting period.
The planned roadmap aims to systematically address infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare delivery, ICT, responsible mining, and economic investment with measurable benchmarks set for every one-to-four-year cycle.
Call for Fact-Checking and Unity The MP also addressed the role of social media in modern political discourse, urging constituents to verify information, seek evidence, and focus on tangible development rather than unverified rumors and political friction.
"Social-media arguments cannot construct roads. Rumours cannot build hospitals," she remarked, calling for facts, evidence, and unity to drive the area forward.
The engagement concluded on an optimistic note, with leadership and residents expressing renewed commitment to collaborate across political lines for the socio-economic advancement of Wassa Agona Amenfi and the wider Amenfi Central constituency.
