Adakabre criticizes the NPP for not providing NAPO with campaign funding, asking, "If It’s Not Wickedness, What Is It?"

Prominent media figure Adakabre Frimpong Manso, a former running mate of the late Madam Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), has revealed disturbing allegations on Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, the 2024 running partner of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Ghana Web reports that on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, Manso, who runs a morning show at Despite Media, said that neither the NPP nor the presidency provided NAPO with any funding for his campaign.

On December 23, 2024, during an interview with Neat FM, Manso claimed that some party members were against NAPO being chosen as the running partner, which resulted in the campaign money being withheld.

"NAPO financed his own campaign from his personal pocket," Manso added, expressing shock at the party's lack of support.

He went on to attack the NPP, saying that NAPO's election-related operations received no funding from the executive branch.

According to Manso, NAPO's nomination was not based on party consensus but rather on his familial ties. The choice of NAPO as running partner was criticized by others, known as the "GBKB people," he claimed.

Why a running partner would be left to finance themselves was one of the reasons he questioned the reasoning behind such choices. "If this isn't wickedness, why wouldn't they have funded their campaign with their running mate?" Manso went on to say.

These accusations follow the Electoral Commission's announcement that John Mahama had won the 2024 presidential election, with Dr. Bawumia receiving less votes than Mahama.

It is yet unknown how much of an influence these internal party debates will have, notwithstanding these assertions.
