According to the report by TV3 GH today Sunday morning, a tragic road accident has claimed the lives of a prominent businessman, Mr. Kwame Asare, and his wife, Mrs. Akosua Asare.

The heartbreaking incident occurred early this morning, Sunday, January 26, 2025, along the Amasaman-Kasoa highway in the Ga West Municipality, Ghana.

The couple, well-known in the community for their generosity and active participation in church activities, was on their way to attend Sunday service at a local church in Amasaman.

According to eyewitnesses, their vehicle, a black Toyota Camry, collided head-on with an oncoming truck at a sharp bend near Obeyeyie Junction.

An eyewitness, Kofi Mensah, described the scene as horrifying.

“We saw the car lose control and veer into the path of the truck. It happened so fast. By the time we got there, they were trapped in the car. It was heartbreaking to see such a thing on a Sunday morning,” he said.

Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after the accident. Firefighters worked tirelessly to extract the couple from the mangled vehicle, but unfortunately, both were pronounced dead on the spot.

Their bodies have since been transported to the Amasaman Government Hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation.

The driver of the truck, who sustained minor injuries, is currently assisting the police with investigations.

The Ghana Police Service has urged motorists to exercise caution, especially on busy routes like the Amasaman-Kasoa highway, which is notorious for accidents.

Speaking about the tragedy, the pastor of the couple’s church, Reverend Emmanuel Owusu, expressed his sorrow.

“Mr. and Mrs. Asare were pillars in our church. They were kind, humble, and always ready to help anyone in need. Their sudden death is a huge loss not just to the church but to the entire community.”

The couple is survived by three children, who are now under the care of family members.
