A devastating road accident at New Ayaase in the Adansi-Fomena District claimed the lives of eight individuals on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The multiple-vehicle collision involved a Sprinter van, a long bus, and a Toyota Corolla, leaving the community in shock and mourning.




Eyewitness accounts suggest the tragedy unfolded when a Sprinter bus, traveling from Kumasi towards Fosu, attempted a dangerous overtaking maneuver of a Toyota Corolla heading towards Fomena. This risky action resulted in a catastrophic head-on collision with an oncoming long bus traveling from Kumasi. The force of the impact also caused the Toyota Corolla to veer uncontrollably off the road.

Tragically, six individuals were confirmed dead at the scene of the crash. Emergency responders rushed the injured to nearby medical facilities, but sadly, two more victims succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, bringing the total death toll to eight.

Isaac Adjei, the Assembly Member for the Fomena East Electoral Area, described the scene to Citi News, noting the horrific impact of the collision, which reportedly split the Sprinter van into two.

The incident has sent waves of grief through the small community of New Ayaase, leaving families and friends to grapple with the sudden and profound loss. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event, with a focus on the dangerous overtaking as a potential primary cause.

This fatal crash serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of road safety and the devastating consequences of reckless driving. The community is now left to mourn the deceased and support the families affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.
