The director of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Center's Faculty of Academic Affairs and Research, Professor Kwesi Aning, has stated that even the NPP's Ashanti Regional Chairman had the audacity to disparage Professor Jane Naana.

According to Prof. Kwesi Aning, when John Mahama chose to keep Professor Jane Naana Opoku as his running partner, there was a very shameful act in this country, especially from the sexist NPP activists.

"There was very shameful behavior in this country when Mr. Mahama was bold enough to choose her as his running mate," Prof. Kwesi Aning said on JOYNEWS. "The misogynistic supporters of the NPP characterized her in a variety of ways, including that she is a witch, that she is this, that, and even Wontumi had the audacity to insult this woman."

"So tonight, let me honor one individual who stood up for Jane against the wishes of her party, and that was Ursula Owusu. She said, 'Yes, we may come from a different party tradition, but we are women first and foremost, and we need to stick together.' Thank you very much, Ursula, for having the courage to stand by Jane," he continued.

Meanwhile, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang became Ghana's first female vice president in history when she was elected as the NDC's running mate for John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 presidential election.
