The politician-turned-actor John Dumelo has spoken out about the skepticism that many people had about his candidacy in the general elections of 2024.

As reported by MyNewsGH on Sunday, December 22, 2024, Dumelo said that a number of individuals first dismissed him, doubting his capacity to guide the constituency.

Dumelo said, "Many people didn’t believe I could win the seat," alluding to the 2020 election and the reservations about his first political appearance.

Dumelo's acting experience was cited by some as a reason why Ayawaso West Wugon should have a representative with a different image.

Using his experience of losing the 2020 election as motivation, Dumelo persevered in the face of early criticism.

With the words, "Failure gives you experience and that experience is what you can use to win the seat," he highlighted how failure had been a useful teacher.

His ambition to make a comeback in 2024 was only strengthened by his near setback in 2020.

While acknowledging the strain of his victory margin of 13,000 votes, Dumelo says he is committed to improve on his accomplishments in the face of an even bigger task.

"I need to make sure I consolidate this to make Ayawaso West Wugon great again," he added. According to Dumelo, he intends to outperform his predecessors in the constituency.

Dumelo also paused to express his gratitude to his wife for her steadfast support during his campaign.
