According to the report by 3news, businesswoman from Madina, a busy town in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, was found dead in her home four days after she complained of a severe headache.
The woman, known by her neighbors as Mrs. Akosua Mensah, was in her early 40s and was well-known for running a popular provision store in the community.
According to her family, Mrs. Mensah started complaining of a headache on Monday. At first, she thought it was a minor issue and took some painkillers. However, the headache did not go away.
Her husband, Mr. Kwame Mensah, said, "She told me she was feeling a sharp pain in her head, but we thought it was just stress from work."
By Tuesday, Mrs. Mensah’s condition worsened. She stopped going to her shop and stayed in bed most of the day.
A close friend, Ama Ofori, said she visited her and was surprised to see how weak she looked.
"She was always full of energy, but that day, she could barely talk. I told her to go to the hospital, but she said she would be fine," Ama explained.
On Wednesday, Mr. Mensah said his wife complained of dizziness and felt too weak to stand. Concerned, he planned to take her to the hospital the next morning.
Sadly, on Thursday morning, he found her unresponsive in bed.
"I tried to wake her up, but she was not moving. I rushed her to the hospital, but the doctors said she was already gone," he said, struggling to hold back tears.
The news of Mrs. Mensah’s death shocked the entire Madina community. Many people described her as kind, hardworking, and friendly.
A neighbor, Mr. Joe Asare, said, "She was like a sister to all of us. Her shop was where we bought our daily needs, and she always greeted us with a smile."
Health officials have not confirmed the exact cause of her death, but some medical experts warn that persistent headaches could be a sign of serious health problems.
A local nurse advised, "If you have a headache that does not go away after taking medicine, please see a doctor immediately."
Mrs. Mensah leaves behind her husband and two young children.
Family and friends are still in shock and are preparing for her funeral. Many community members are calling for regular health check-ups to avoid similar tragedies.
